Biography

Asiwaju Moses Oyeleye Ayanromade Ayanbeku was born on April 22nd, 1930 at Idi-Ega area of Oke-Agbe Quarter, Okeigbo, Ondo State. His father Gabriel Ayanbeku hailed from Adesigbin Dynasty of Ifetedo, Osun State while his mother, Emilia Olawumi Orofunke Ayanbeku nee Fasogbon hailed from Odo-Eleyowo Ruling House of Okeigbo, Ondo State. At the age of one, little Moses Ayanbeku relocated to Oke-Odo now Ifetedo when the entire Adesigbin Dynasty migrated from Okeigbo to Ifetedo following the unfortunate dismemberment and breaking up of Okeigbo in 1931, an event that resulted in the founding of the town known then as Oke – Odo but which later became Ifetedo.


‎Moses Ayanbeku attended St Peter’s School, Okesoda, Ifetedo from 1936 to 1940 when the death of his father forced him out of school for a while. He later relocated to Ile Ife, Osun State to continue his educational journey. A young man who endured a stormy , hazardous and turbulent educational journey, Moses Ayanbeku attended CAC School, Moore, Ile Ife,  Central School, Ilare, Ile Ife  and Baptist School  for his elementary education.
‎   Upon the completion of his primary in 1948, he was appointed as Ward Servant at the Seventh Day Adventist ( SDA) Hospital, Ile Ife on a monthly salary of Thirty Shillings. In 1950, Moses Ayanbeku translated from Ward Servant at SDA Hospital to a student nurse having succeeded in the school’s entrance examination. He graduated from the school in 1953 as a State Registered Nurse having passed the final qualifying examination in flying colors. Following his excellent performance in the final examination, Moses Ayanbeku was offered appointment at the SDA Hospital as staff nurse. He voluntarily disengaged from the hospital on the 31st Day of August, 1956 to start Ifeolu Maternity and Clinic on the 1st Day of September, 1956. On 11th Day of May, 1957, Ifeolu Clinic and Maternity was formally registered and approved by the Western Region of Nigeria government with registration number WR58.
‎   A prominent motor transport magnate , Chief Ayanbeku was a two term vice chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers ( NURTW), Osun State Chapter. In addition, he was a contractor and cocoa produce merchant.  In 1979, Hon Moses Ayanbeku was elected into the Green Chamber (House of Representatives) of the National Assembly to represent Oranmiyan South Federal Constituency, Ifetedo under the banner of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria led by the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.  In 1973,  Chief Ayanbeku established the first private school, Ayanbeku Memorial Grammar School, Ifetedo, Osun State. He was installed a traditional chief, Bada of Ifetedo in 1995 by the first Olubosin of Ifetedo, late Oba Gabriel Oyeyiola. He was later promoted and installed the Asiwaju of Ifetedo by Oba ( Barrister) Akinola Oyetade Akinrera,  Latiiri 1.
‎   An acclaimed sports man and renown socialite, Chief Ayanbeku holds several prizes, awards and honours. An acknowledged philanthropist and polygamist like his forebears, Chief Ayanbeku is happily married with successful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
